TRAVEL ADVISORY November 14, 2007
I-90 Easton Bridge Repair Work Begins Wednesday, Nov. 14, Expect Delays Eastbound
EASTON – WSDOT and the contractor (Max J. Kuney Construction) will start the preliminary work to replace the bridge span for the I-90 overpass at Exit 71 that was damaged Oct. 31 by an oversized load. Lane restrictions will be required. Delays are expected.
Eastbound I-90 at Easton: Weather permitting, Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 14 - 15, and Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 19 – 20, eastbound traffic will be restricted to one lane during daylight hours. Crews will be preparing to install the new bridge girders. Traffic delays are anticipated to be minor. An eastbound wide load restriction is in effect for vehicles over 12 feet from 6 am to 6 pm on Nov. 14, 15, 19 and 20. Wide loads over 12 feet can use the interchange exit 71 on and off ramps as a detour.
Monday, Nov. 26 through Thursday, Nov. 29, weather permitting, eastbound lanes will be closed during non-peak nighttime hours and eastbound traffic will be detoured over the interchange on and off ramps. The new bridge girders will be set in place and bridge work will continue. Traffic should expect some delays, estimated up to 15 minutes, during nighttime hours.
An over height restriction will be in effect, starting Monday, Nov. 26 and is anticipated to end Dec. 16, for vehicles in the eastbound direction. Over height loads will be able to use the interchange exit 71 on and off ramps as a detour.
Project Description:
On October 31, 2007, an over-sized load struck the bridge girders on the eastbound span of the Easton Interchange Bridge over eastbound I-90 at exit 71. WSDOT bridge experts determined the bridge span was damaged beyond repair and an emergency contract was established to demolish the bridge November 1, 2007. This current project will construct a new bridge span over the eastbound lanes. To read more about this project visit the website: www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/I90/EastonBridge/.
