EVERETT – This Saturday, Oct. 27, construction crews plan to take advantage of the forecasted dry weather to pave most of the I-5 ramps between Everett’s 41st Street and Marine View Dr. This work will be rescheduled if it rains. Drivers should plan extra time for their trips, particularly those heading to US 2.

Here’s a rundown of the Saturday’s closures between 4:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.:

  • At 4:30 a.m. crews will begin by closing the Pacific Ave on-ramp to southbound I-5 and the right southbound lane of I-5. Crews expect to open the ramp by 11 a.m. but hope to have the southbound lane open by 9 a.m. Drivers should enter southbound I-5 at Broadway.
  • At 9 a.m. crews will close the northbound right lane and all northbound ramps between 41st Street and US 2: the 41st Street on-ramp to northbound I-5, the northbound I-5 exit to Pacific and the northbound I-5 exit to US 2. Drivers will detour around the closures by taking the northbound exit to Marine View Dr, turning left onto Marine View Dr and left back onto southbound I-5 where they can exit to US 2, Everett Ave or 41st St.
  • Once the northbound ramp paving is complete and right lane and exit to Pacific Ave opened, crews will close the southbound right lane and all southbound ramps between Marine View Dr. and Pacific Ave: the Marine View Dr. on-ramp to southbound I-5, and the southbound exits to Everett Avenue and US 2. Drivers will be detoured to 41st Street where they can return to northbound I-5 and exit at Pacific, US 2 or Marine View Dr. All ramps will reopen by 8 p.m. Saturday.

This work is part of the I-5 Everett HOV freeway expansion project. When finished, crews will have built new HOV lanes and other safety and traffic congestion improvements between SR 526 and the Snohomish River Bridge.
