TACOMA – Friday night lights will take on a new meaning Oct. 12 while crews continue working on the $1.5 million project to widen the southbound I-5 on-ramp at the Port of Tacoma Road interchange.

The work zone lights will shine on crews as they close the right lane of southbound I-5 and the Port of Tacoma Road on-ramp for a paving operation. The closure will begin at 8 p.m. and reopen Saturday at 8 a.m.

Our workers want to return home after their shift in the same or better condition than they started, so WSDOT reminds motorists that traffic fines double in work zones. Drivers should slow down and pay close attention to the roadway through this and all work zones.

Drivers can call 5-1-1 or visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/ for road and traffic updates.
