SEATTLE - School has started, the ferry lines are shorter, the weather is cooler and the leaves have begun to change color. It is also the time that Washington State Ferries announces the Fall ferry schedule, which goes into effect on Sunday, September 30.
Because of the diminishing crowds in late September, this ferry schedule change from Summer to Fall is usually a "ho-hum" event. This year, however, there are several changes worthy of note.
- Due to vessel availability, WSF switched to a modified one-boat fall schedule on September 10 on the Port Townsend/Keystone route. This modified schedule, which has an additional sailing on the weekends, will continue through October 8, when the late fall schedule takes effect on this route. Customers should expect delays.
- WSF will return to making only one roundtrip sailing per day between Anacortes and Sidney, B.C. at 7:45 a.m. daily (during the summer, there are two sailings) beginning September 30.
- Parking rates at the Anacortes Terminal will go down on October 1 to the non-peak rates of:
0-24 hours (1 day) $5
24-48 hours (2 days) $10
48-72 hours (three days) $12
72-168 hours (7 days) $20
RV (unoccupied) per day $10
Monthly (calendar month) $25
Seasonal (10/1-4/30) $125
- Lower, non-peak fares will return when the peak season is over on Sunday, October 14.
The new fall schedule is available at Washington State Ferries terminals and on vessels, at www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries, by calling 511, and at local libraries, hotels and motels, local visitor information offices, or other venues where customers generally pick up ferry schedules or other information.
