TACOMA – Detours will be in place next week for drivers wishing to access 38th street or westbound SR 16 from I-5 northbound in Tacoma.
Motorists traveling northbound I-5 wishing to get to 38th street or westbound SR 16 will need to follow I-5 and exit onto Portland Avenue; get back onto southbound I-5 and take the 38th Street/Westbound SR 16 exit.
Crews will close the off ramp from I-5 to 38th Street/Westbound SR 16 nightly, Monday through Wednesday next week so they can make repairs to the rail and bridge joints on the Nalley Valley Viaduct. The ramp will close at 10 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. the next day. Crews will also close the right lane on southbound South Tacoma Way to protect motorists from possible falling debris.
Drivers can call 5-1-1 or visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/ for road and traffic updates.
