MONTESANO – A paving project requires the nighttime closures of on- and off-ramps at the US 12/State Route (SR) 107 interchange in Montesano next week. Crews will close the eastbound US 12 ramps to SR 107 Sunday, August 26, and the westbound ramps Monday and Tuesday nights.
Work hours are 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Drivers should access Montesano and SR 107 by detouring to the Devonshire Road interchange, approximately one mile west of the US 12/SR 107 connection. Variable message signs along US 12 will advise motorists of alternate routes.
Wednesday and Thursday nights, the contractor will work on SR 107, using flagger-controlled, alternating one-way traffic control.
This work is weather dependent. Possible rain and showers could cause changes to the paving schedule.
This paving project stretches across six miles of US 12 between the Wynoochee River Bridge and the Brady vicinity. This $4.1 million project – awarded to Wilder Construction Co. – also installs additional rumble strips to improve safety on a 13-mile stretch of US 12 between the Wynoochee River Bridge and SR 8 (East Elma interchange).
About 20,000 vehicles travel this stretch of US 12 on an average weekday.
Drivers can call 5-1-1 or visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/ for road and traffic updates.
