HOQUIAM – Drivers will need to slow down beginning Thursday while driving on State Route (SR) 109 through Hoquiam.
WSDOT, in collaboration with the City of Hoquiam, reduced the speed limit from 35 mph to 30 mph from milepost 0.93 (Spencer Street intersection) to milepost 1.28 (Eisenhower Street intersection).
The speed limit reduction was requested by the Hoquiam School District out of concern for the safety of students who need to cross this section of highway to get to and from school.
WSDOT maintenance crews will install the new speed limit signs on Thursday, Aug. 2.
