ABERDEEN – The prep work that began this week on US 101’s Simpson Avenue Bridge was the first major milestone for the $9.2 million project to repair and replace mechanical, electrical and structural components on the structure. It’s an important milestone leading up to the three-month closure scheduled for early January.
For the next five months, crews will be working on construction activities that are not scheduled to impact traffic, but may create a visual distraction.
The 10-week closure is necessary so mechanical, electrical and structural components on the bridge are repaired or replaced. During this closure, motorists will be detoured onto the Riverside Bridge – which will be temporarily reconfigured for one lane westbound and one lane eastbound.
Drivers can call 5-1-1 or visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/ for road and traffic updates.
