EVERETT – The planned weekend closure of the ramp from northbound I-5 to US 2 Saturday and into Sunday morning has been cancelled. While crews were preparing to pave a section of I-5 next to the US 2 exit, they encountered very poor soil and had to make a much wider excavation than anticipated. This larger area of excavation requires more prep work, causing crews to postpone the work

This paving is an important step toward opening the new HOV and auxiliary lanes that are a part of major improvements to I-5 through Everett, Snohomish County’s most notorious choke point. The $263 million project is scheduled to be complete by summer 2008.
