MONTESANO – A paving project requires closing the westbound US 12 on- and off-ramps to State Route 107 overnight Wednesday. The ramp closures allow crews to perform pavement repairs and other preparation work for the pavement overlay.
The ramps will be closed between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday. Drivers should access Montesano and SR 107 at the Devonshire Road interchange, about a mile west of the US 12/SR 107 connection.
Work on the eastbound ramps is delayed due to the presence of an eagle’s nest just south of the interchange. US Fish and Wildlife restrictions will not allow construction activities in the area of the nest until after the infant eagles have fledged.
This paving project stretches six miles on US 12 between the Wynoochee River Bridge and the Brady area. This $4.1 million project also installs additional rumble strips to improve safety on a 13-mile stretch of US 12 between the Wynoochee River Bridge and SR 8 (East Elma interchange).
About 20,000 vehicles travel this stretch of US 12 on an average weekday.
