BAINBRIDGE ISLAND –Evening and early morning commuters who use the Agate Pass Bridge will be happy to know that the nighttime closures are over. WSDOT completed repair work to the bridge last night, one day ahead of schedule.
Crews began work on Mar. 4 to repair the overhead span of the bridge that was damaged last April by an unsecured crane. For safety reasons, the bridge needed to be closed at times during the repair work, and WSDOT looked to lesson the inconvenience to motorists as much as possible when scheduling closure times. “We realize the importance of this bridge to those who depend on it,” said Chris Keegan, WSDOT operations engineer.
Along with the repair work, bridge crews also patched and cleaned the deck and replaced the wind socks.
