MALTBY – Starting Monday, Jan. 29, drivers can expect delays on State Route 524 at SR 9 in Maltby. For the next three weeks, Wilder Construction crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close the westbound lane west of SR 9 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
During the closure crews will widen this intersection. To help keep traffic moving during construction, we will only work in between the morning and evening rush hours. Flaggers will direct traffic during the daytime lane closure.
When this project is finished in the spring of 2008, two miles of SR 9 will be transformed from a two-lane, rural highway into a four-lane divided urban highway with additional turn lanes at major intersections.
This $40.5 million project is funded primarily by the 2003 Nickel Gas Tax. For more information, visit the project Web page: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/SR9/sr522_212thst/
