EVERETT – Northbound drivers on Interstate 5 heading to eastbound US 2 in Everett should plan a little extra time for trips this weekend. Crews working for WSDOT plan to close the northbound I-5 ramp to US 2 starting at 10 p.m. Friday, January 26 until 5 a.m. Monday, January 29. A signed detour will take drivers to the Marine View Drive exit, back to southbound I-5 and the eastbound US 2 on-ramp.
Crews will use the weekend for paving and other widening work. When the I-5 Everett HOV freeway expansion project is complete, the northbound ramp to US 2 will be wider and safer and should result in a more consistent and smoother transition from the freeway to the highway. In the coming months, construction work will require several weekend long ramp closures. All work is weather dependent and could be pushed to the next available suitable weather weekend.
February 16 - 19, 2007 (or alternate weekend in case of weather delays)
10 p.m. Friday, the detour across Cascade View Bridge will close
10 p.m. Friday, the 41st Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 will close
By 5 a.m. Monday morning:
- The new 41st Street Bridge opens to traffic
- The new 41st Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 opens
- The left turn to 41st Street from the southbound I-5 exit closes for 2 weeks
February 23 – 26, 2007 (or alternate weekend in case of weather delays)
- 10 p.m. Friday, the existing loop ramp to 41st Street from I-5 will permanently close
- 5 a.m. Monday, the new northbound I-5 exit to 41st Street opens
March 2 – 5, 2007 (or alternate weekend in case of weather delays)
- 10 p.m. Friday, southbound I-5 exit to 41st Street will close so crews can build the new southbound exit ramp
- 5 a.m. Monday the new southbound I-5 exit to 41st Street will open
June 22 - 25, 2007 (or alternate weekend in case of weather delays)
- Crews will finalize work on the new 41st Street on-ramp to southbound I-5
- 5 a.m. Monday, the completed 41st Street and I-5 interchange will have four lanes operating. The remaining lanes will tie into the City of Everett’s 41st Street widening project when it’s complete

The westbound US 2 ramp to southbound I-5 and the southbound right lane of I-5 from US 2 to Pacific Ave.
April
The exit from southbound I-5 to Everett Ave/eastbound US 2 and the auxiliary lane.

The I-5 on-ramp from Pacific Ave.
The exit ramp from northbound I-5 to Pacific Avenue.
