KELSO – The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has postponed the January 11 public open house for the upcoming State Route 4 Paving Project. The cancellation is in the interest of public safety and is necessary due to winter weather conditions. WSDOT has rescheduled the public meeting for January 18.

The SR 4 Paving Project will pave and provide safety improvements to State Route 4, from Coal Creek to I-5. Because of the heavy daytime traffic through the project area, a majority of the work will be completed at night. The open house will provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about the project and expected traffic impacts. It will also be an opportunity to provide input on a variety of local projects and talk with engineers.

                                     Thursday, January 18
                           4 p.m. - 7 p.m. (stop by anytime)
                                       Cowlitz PUD Room
                          961 12th Avenue, Longview, Wash.

A number of other projects will also be on display, including I-5, SR 432 Talley Way Interchange; SR 504, Tower Road to Reynolds Road; SR 433, Lewis and Clark Bridge Painter; I-5, Lexington Road Bridge; and the I-5, Columbia River Crossing.

At the open house, the public will be able to view displays and talk to staff about the project. Feedback about local projects, other concerns and suggestions are also welcome. There will be no formal presentations, so the public is welcome to stop by anytime between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The project is scheduled to be advertised for bids from interested contractors in early 2007 and construction will begin shortly thereafter. Construction is expected to be complete in the fall of 2007.

For more information about this project, please contact WSDOT’s Kelso Area Engineering Office by phone (800-545-1393), by e-mail (swKelso@wsdot.wa.gov), or visit the project Web page at: www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/SR4/CoalCreekToI5.
