BELLEVUE – With just a couple weeks until the opening of the new I-90 HOV direct access ramps at Eastgate, crews will be closing I-90 lanes and ramps overnight to install traffic monitoring equipment in the roadway. The work is weather dependent, but closures are currently scheduled as follows, between I-405 and 150th Ave. SE:
Monday night, Oct. 9
Lane closures in both directions - The first lane will close at 7 p.m., with three lanes closed in each direction by 11 p.m. At least one lane will remain open in each direction. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Tuesday.
The northbound I-405 ramp to eastbound I-90 will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Tuesday night, Oct. 10
Eastbound lane closures - The first lane will close at 7 p.m., with three lanes closed by 11 p.m. At least one eastbound lane will remain open. All lanes will reopen by 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Ramp closures at 148th/150th Ave. SE from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Crews will close the eastbound I-90 ramps to northbound 148th and 150th Avenues SE, and the southbound 148th Ave. SE ramp to westbound I-90.
Wednesday night, Oct. 11
Westbound lane closures - The first lane will close at 6 p.m., with three lanes closed by 11 p.m. At least one westbound lane will remain open. All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. Thursday.
The eastbound I-90 ramp to northbound 148th Ave. SE will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The 142nd Place SE bridge is scheduled to reopen on Saturday, Oct. 7. The bridge has been closed since Sept. 25 for resurfacing.
The $38.9 million Eastgate Access Project is fully funded by Sound Transit. The new HOV ramps in the I-90 median are scheduled to open to buses, carpools and vanpools on Saturday, Oct. 21. This will allow HOVs to enter and exit the carpool lanes at 142nd Place SE without merging across other lanes of traffic. The ramps will provide a more direct connection to the Eastgate Park-and-Ride, reduce the potential for collisions, and ease congestion, making trips faster and safer for all drivers. This new traveler information system builds upon the highly successful Washington State Highway hotline that managed 4.6 million calls each year.
