VANCOUVER – The on-ramp from Fourth Plain Boulevard to I-5 northbound will close at 10 p.m. the night of Wednesday, Nov. 1 for graffiti clean-up, announced the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT). The ramp will reopen at 2 a.m. the morning of Thursday, Nov. 2.

During the closure, maintenance crews will attempt to clean up a directional sign which was damaged by graffiti over the previous weekend. To conduct this work safely, the work will require three traffic control personnel, in addition to the two maintenance personnel who will be cleaning the sign. The success of the clean-up will depend upon the type of paint used. Depending on the chemical base of the paint used to damage the sign, crews will either be able to clean the existing sign during the closure, or have to order a new sign to replace the damaged one.

Motorists wishing to access I-5 northbound may use the Mill Plain, 39th Street or Main Street on-ramps. Variable message signs will be in place alerting motorists to the closure.

Advanced warning signs will be posted during the closure. Motorists are asked to please pay attention to the warning signs. Motorists are also reminded that all traffic fines are doubled within a construction work zone when workers are present (RCW 46.61.527).
