KELSO – Maintenance crews will be conducting double and single lane closures of I-5 southbound on the morning of Sunday, October 29, north of Kelso near the Pacific Avenue overpass (milepost 42) for paving. Lane closures will take place between 6:30 a.m. and 12 noon, dry-weather permitting.
The two left lanes of I-5 southbound will be closed between 6:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. After paving of the left two lanes is complete, the right lane will close for paving. The right lane will remain closed from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
The lane closures are necessary so that WSDOT maintenance crews and Lakeside Industries can complete approximately 300 feet of paving just north of Kelso. The pavement in this area has deteriorated. Paving this section will result in an improved driving surface for motorists and extend the life of the roadway. Motorists should expect some delays during the lane closures.
Advanced warning signs will be posted during the closure. Motorists are asked to please pay attention to the warning signs. Motorists are also reminded that all traffic fines are doubled within a construction work zone when workers are present (RCW 46.61.527).
