KIRKLAND – Construction effects on traffic on and around Interstate 405 in Kirkland October 27 to November 3:

Interstate 405 mainline

  • NEW – Weather permitting, crews will open a new northbound I-405 lane between NE 85th and NE 116th streets by Friday morning, Nov. 3.
  • UPDATED – Monday through Thursday nights expect closures of up to three northbound and two southbound lanes between NE 85th  and NE 124th streets to shift barriers and restripe lanes. The first lane will close as early as 7 p.m. each night. All southbound lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. each morning, all northbound lanes by 6 a.m.  These closures could be postponed due to rain.
  • UPDATED - Expect periodic closures of the northbound HOV lane between NE 124th and NE 132nd streets Monday through Friday.  These closures protect drivers as construction vehicles enter and leave the median work zone.

I-405 / NE 85th Street interchange

  • NEW - Thursday night crews plan to close the northbound on-ramps at NE 85th Street from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for restriping.  Signed detours will be in place. These closures could be postponed due to rain.

Kirkland streets affected by I-405 construction

  • UPDATED - Expect weekday lane closures in both directions of Totem Lake Boulevard near NE 128th Street from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. for landscaping, rebuilding driveways, and access to the work zone in the I-405 median.
  • 116th Ave. NE is reduced to one lane in each direction at the NE 128th Street intersection for several weeks as crews rebuild the intersection. Flaggers will assist construction vehicles entering and leaving the work zone and will direct pedestrian traffic.

All of these closures are necessary for crews to perform work associated with WSDOT’s Kirkland Nickel Improvement Project and Sound Transit’s Totem Lake Freeway Station Project.  For more information or to sign up for e-mail updates, visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/i405.
