KIRKLAND – Construction effects on traffic on and around Interstate 405 in Kirkland October 13 to 20:
Interstate 405 mainline
- UPDATED - Expect closures of up to three lanes in each direction through Kirkland every night. The first lane may close as early as 7 p.m. each night. All southbound lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. each morning, all northbound lanes by 6 a.m. (10 a.m. Sunday). Crews plan to pave, stripe, move barriers, and work on the NE 128th Street Bridge.
- Expect periodic closures of the northbound and southbound HOV lanes between NE 124th and NE 132nd streets EXCEPT during rush hours and on Friday night. These closures protect drivers as construction vehicles enter and leave the median work zone.
I-405 / NE 116th Street interchange
- NEW – The northbound exit to NE 116th Street will be closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday to restripe and realign the ramp.
I-405 / NE 124th Street interchange
- NEW – Monday through Thursday nights expect closures of various northbound and southbound on- and off-ramps at NE 124th Street between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for paving and striping. Signed detours will be in place.
Kirkland streets affected by I-405 construction
- NEW – Crews will close all lanes of NE 116th Street under I-405 from 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20 to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23 to demolish portions of the NE 116th Street Bridge.
- UPDATED - Expect weekday lane closures on northbound Totem Lake Boulevard near NE 128th Street for paving.
116th Ave. NE is reduced to one lane in each direction at the NE 128th Street intersection for several weeks as crews rebuild the intersection. Flaggers will assist construction vehicles entering and leaving the work zone and will direct pedestrian traffic.
All of these closures are necessary for crews to perform work associated with WSDOT’s Kirkland Nickel Improvement Project and Sound Transit’s Totem Lake Freeway Station Project. For more information or to sign up for e-mail updates, visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/i405.
