WSDOT Detours Traffic Into Richland from SR 240 Westbound at the Yakima River Bridge; George Washington Way entrance from SR 240 closed until October 30.

KENNEWICK - WSDOT will detour traffic into Richland on SR 240 Westbound at the Yakima River Bridge from Saturday, October 21 through Monday, October 30. Drivers will be directed by orange detour signs and electronic message boards to continue Westbound from SR 240 via I-182 Westbound into Richland by the Wellsian Way or Queensgate interchanges. Another option is to go I-182 Eastbound to Road 100 interchange and back on I-182 Westbound into Richland at the George Washington Way Interchange.

The ten day closure is required so that existing asphalt and base course can be removed and the section of SR 240 into Richland can be reconstructed. The loop ramp from I-182 Eastbound to Richland at the George Washington Way interchange will be closed for five days beginning 6 a.m. Wednesday, October 25.

Project Description:
This project improves three miles of SR 240 by adding new lanes. Work includes replacing the existing SR 240 Bridge at the Richland "Y" and widening the I-182 George Washington Way Interchange Bridge. This highway improvement was largely funded through the 2003 Transportation "Nickel" Package.
