KELSO – The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will begin repairing the I-5 northbound East Fork Lewis River Bridge, just north of La Center, beginning Sept. 5. Motorists should expect some traffic impacts during the project, including daytime single lane closures, and nighttime double lane closures. WSDOT awarded this contract to KLM Construction, Inc. of Puyallup, who submitted the winning bid of $553,000.

The project will repair the East Fork Lewis River Bridge, helping to preserve and prolong the life of this bridge. Crews will replace worn expansion joints and repair concrete around the joints. In addition, clean up, including painting in the areas of the joint replacements are included in this project. Crews will seal cracks and repair steel components. Construction is expected to last 27 working days.

During construction, motorists should expect some delays in the project area. Single lane closures may take place at any time, with the exception of Friday afternoons between 12 noon and 7 p.m. Double-lane closures may take place between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. In addition, there will be no lane closures on holidays or after 12 noon on a day preceding a holiday. For weekly updates on this and all other state traffic impacts in the region, please visit the WSDOT Southwest Region Weekly Travel Advisory Web page: www.wsdot.wa.gov/Regions/SouthWest/Construction/default.htm.
