WSDOT Alerts Motorists to I-5 Southbound Double-Lane Closure North of Kelso, July 26

Date:  Tuesday, July 25, 2006

Contact: Sam Arola, Maintenance Supervisor, (360) 442-1342 (Kelso)
Alissa Bateman, WSDOT Communications, (360) 905-2078 (Vancouver)

KELSO – Maintenance crews will be conducting a double-lane closure of I-5 southbound on the morning of Wednesday, July 26, north of Kelso near the Huntington Avenue overpass (milepost 48) for emergency repairs. The closure will begin at 5 a.m. and is expected to be finished by 9 a.m. During the double-lane closure, the right lane will remain open to motorists traveling south on I-5.

This double-lane closure is necessary so that WSDOT maintenance crews can complete emergency repairs to a damaged concrete slab on I-5. The concrete slab will be repaired by applying epoxy, an adhesive material which will help to keep the concrete slab in place and functioning properly. Motorists should expect some delays during this four-hour closure.

Advanced warning signs will be posted during the closure. Motorists are asked to please pay attention to the warning signs. Motorists are also reminded that all traffic fines are doubled within a construction work zone when workers are present (RCW 46.61.527).
