KIRKLAND – Construction effects on traffic on and around Interstate 405 in Kirkland July 21-27:
Interstate 405 mainline
- UPDATED – Expect nighttime closures of one right lane northbound Monday through Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for work on the NE 128th Street Bridge.
- UPDATED – Expect nighttime closures of two left lanes southbound Monday through Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. for work on the NE 128th Street Bridge and surveying.
- Expect periodic closures of the northbound and southbound HOV lanes near NE 124th Street EXCEPT during rush hours and on Friday night. These closures protect drivers as construction vehicles enter and leave the median work zone.
- NEW – Monday through Wednesday nights, expect periodic nighttime closures between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. of both on-ramps from NE 124th Street to northbound I-405 and the Totem Lake Blvd. on-ramp to northbound I-405. On Thursday night, all three of these on-ramps will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. A signed detour will be in place. Crews will grind pavement and pave.
I-405 / NE 116th Street interchange
- Drivers should expect delays at the southbound I-405 on-ramp at NE 116th Street. This ramp is narrowed for several months for construction. Carpools, vanpools and buses may use the HOV bypass lane on the NE 124th Street on-ramp.
Kirkland streets affected by I-405 construction
- UPDATED – Expect closures of the northbound and southbound right-hand lanes on Totem Lake Boulevard Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Flaggers will be onsite to assist construction vehicles as they enter and leave the work zone.
- UPDATED – Expect closures of the northbound right lane on 116th Ave NE Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Flaggers will be on site to assist construction vehicles as they enter and leave the worksite.
All of these closures are necessary for crews to perform work associated with WSDOT’s Kirkland Nickel Improvement Project and Sound Transit’s Totem Lake Freeway Station Project. For more information or to sign up for e-mail updates, visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/i405.
