VANCOUVER – Due to striping work, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will conduct multiple rolling slowdowns, which may result in delays on I-5 and SR 14 in the upcoming days.
9 p.m. on July 14 to 6 a.m. on July. 15: Periodic rolling slowdowns will occur on all I-5 ramps, both northbound and southbound, between the interstate bridge and the 134th Street exit. Weather permitting, WSDOT striping crew will conduct work on all ramps.
8 a.m. – 3 p.m. on July 17 and 18: Striping work will occur on SR 14 between Washougal (mile post 19) and Dog Mountain vicinity (mile post 55). The work will occur in both eastbound and westbound directions. Due to the rolling slowdowns, motorists should expect up to 20-minute delays in the area.
This work is weather sensitive and will be rescheduled in the event of rain.
WSDOT would like to remind motorists to observe warning devices and not cross new pavements or freshly painted striping. According to the Revised Code of Washington, “no person shall ride or drive any animal, bicycle, or vehicle, across any newly made pavement or freshly applied markings on any highway when a sign, cone marker, or other warning device is in place warning persons not to drive across such pavement or marking.” (RCW 46.90.010. 94-01-082, § 308-330-412). The fine for driving in such zoned-off area is $86.
Advanced warning signs will be posted during the slowdown. Motorists are asked to please pay attention to the warning signs. Motorists are also reminded that all traffic fines are doubled within a construction work zone when workers are present (RCW 46.61.527).
