THURSTON COUNTY - A Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) roadway preservation project beginning later this month and continuing through the summer may delay nighttime and early morning motorists traveling on State Route 510 between Lacey and Yelm.
The project contractor, Tucci and Sons, will pave two sections of SR 510 from Sitka Street in Lacey to Old Pacific Highway and from Fort Lewis Military Road to 93rd Avenue, totaling nearly seven miles. Motorists can expect up to 20-minute delays during the nighttime and early morning hours. Paving work is weather dependent.
In addition, to increase safety and to alert drivers who stray from the road, WSDOT will install centerline rumble strips that will be ground into the pavement for the length of the project.
Most of the work will be between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays, except during holidays. During work hours, motorists will be restricted to a single lane with a pilot car guiding traffic through the work zone.
For more information, contact Neal Uhlmeyer, project engineer, at (360) 412-3420.
Weekly construction updates and schedules will be available online at www.wsdot.wa.gov/regions/olympic/construction
