VANCOUVER – The Lieser Road Bridge and one lane of State Route 14 eastbound will close the weekend of June 16-18, announced the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT). A short detour to motorists will be provided.

The bridge closure will begin at 9 p.m. on Friday June 16, when crews begin to repair the damaged east girder. On Saturday June 17, crews will pour concrete on the bridge deck and damaged girder. The bridge will reopen by 6 a.m. the morning of Sunday, June 18. In addition, one lane of State Route 14 eastbound will be closed in the vicinity of the Lieser Road Bridge for girder repairs, from 8 p.m. Friday, June 16 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17.

During the closure, motorists will not be able to access the Lieser Road Bridge. Eastbound motorists needing to access Lieser Road or the Southwest Washington Medical Center can detour by continuing eastbound on SR 14, taking I-205 north, and exiting at Mill Plain Boulevard, exit #28. Alternate routes for motorists needing to cross State Route 14 include the Evergreen Blvd., exit #3, just west of Lieser Road, and Ellsworth, exit #5, to the east of the Lieser Road Bridge.

Repairs to the Lieser Road Bridge began May 1. Construction is expected to take approximately 50 working days, depending upon weather conditions. During construction, all efforts will be made to minimize traffic impacts.

Advance warning signs will be placed ahead of the construction area on SR 14 and Lieser Road, and motorists are asked to observe and adhere to the posted speed limits when driving through the work zone. Motorists are also reminded that all traffic fines are doubled within a construction work zone when workers are present (RCW 46.61.527).
