Motorists using I-5 in the Lacey and Nisqually areas should expect minor travel delays next week because of a Washington State Department of Transportation project to place erosion control measures and compost between Marvin Road and McAllister Creek.
The $169,000 storm water retrofit project will filter water collected on I-5 before it enters McAllister Creek. Terra Dynamics of Auburn is the contractor.
The project calls for nighttime single-lane closures on northbound and southbound I-5 and daytime alternating right and left shoulder closures. As part of the project, compost will be roughly spread during nighttime work and moved into its final location during daytime hours.
Nighttime work hours are 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on northbound I-5 and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on southbound I-5, Sunday through Thursday.
