JEFFERSON COUNTY - Motorists can expect periodic travel delays throughout the summer months as the Washington State Department of Transportation paves several state highways in Jefferson County.
The project contractor, Lakeside Industries of Port Angeles, will pave approximately six miles of State Route (SR) 20, 13.5 miles of SR 104 and three miles of SR 116. The $5.5 million project also includes pavement repair, guardrail installation, permanent signing and striping, and sidewalk ramp construction in and near the community of Port Hadlock on SR 116.
The project is scheduled to begin May 30 and is expected to be completed by August 31, weather permitting. Both daytime and nighttime work hours will be in effect, depending on the location. SR 104 will be paved within several hundred feet of the west end of Hood Canal Bridge during nighttime hours. In addition, SR 116 through Port Hadlock and the intersection of SR 19 and SR 104 will be paved at night.
During work hours, motorists will be directed through the work zone by flagger-controlled alternating one-way traffic or by a pilot car.
