MORTON – The public will have the opportunity to learn more about the US 12 Paving Project and other local projects in Lewis County on Wednesday, June 14. Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) awarded the contract for the project to Lakeside Industries, who submitted the winning bid of $3,249,097.
The open house will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 to introduce the US 12 project and educate the public on traffic impacts. In addition, there will be several other projects on display, including the SR 7 Lewis County Roadside Safety Projects and the US 12 Rockfall project. The rockfall work at three locations on US 12 near White Pass, will reduce the potential for future rockslides (mileposts 145, 156, and 165.)

The US 12 Paving Project will repave a portion of US 12 from the Corn Creek Bridge Vicinity to Davis Lake Road Vicinity. This project will also provide guardrail upgrades, and replace bridge expansion joints on the Corn Creek Bridge and Twin Canyon Bridge. In addition, a small portion of State Route 7 will be paved, where it meets US 12. Local roads, Adams Street and Knittles Way in Morton will be paved, along with Williams Street in Mossyrock. The local paving projects were funded through the Transportation Improvement Board.
At the open house, the public will be able to view displays and talk to WSDOT staff about the various projects. The public will have the opportunity to learn about traffic impacts that will occur during the US 12 Paving Project. Feedback about the projects, associated concerns and suggestions from the public are also welcome. There will be no formal presentations, so the public is encouraged to stop by anytime between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
