VANCOUVER – Construction will begin on the Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP) Rehabilitation Project to repair I-5, from I-205 to the North Fork Lewis River Bridge April 17, announced the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT). WSDOT recently awarded the construction contract for this project to ACME Concrete Paving, Inc. of Spokane, Wash., who submitted the winning bid of $6,818,712.50.
This project, funded by pre-existing transportation funds, will repair concrete panels on I-5 between I-205 and the North Fork Lewis River Bridge, just south of Woodland. A PCCP Rehabilitation process entails replacing concrete panels and installing dowel bars between panels, which join the panels together. This process also includes grinding the ruts in the pavement surface which will result in a smoother ride for motorists.
During construction, motorists should expect some traffic impacts, including daytime and nighttime lane closures in both directions of I-5 and reduced speed limits in work zones. Traffic impacts include single lane closures between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., except between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Double lane closures will only occur at night, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. No closures will be allowed on holidays or after 12 noon on the day prior.
WSDOT would like to remind all motorists to slow down and pay attention to warning signs while driving near the construction area.
