(SEATTLE) Washington State Ferries will be hosting a meeting in February for Whidbey Island and Port Townsend customers to help explain the new tariff proposal and take public comment.
The meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, February 22, will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, from 6-7 p.m. Following the tariff meeting, there will be the quarterly North Sound Ferry Advisory Committee (FAC) meeting from 7-8:30 p.m. in the same location. The public is invited to attend.
The 2006-2007 tariff proposal includes a six percent general fare increase and a new motorcycle fare ratio of 4:1 instead of the current 5:1, which the Tariff Policy Committee believes more closely reflects the true ratio of space a motorcycle requires on the vehicle deck when compared to a standard vehicle.
Also proposed is limiting the WSF monthly passenger pass to 31 round trips per month, except at Port Townsend. An upfront annual maintenance fee has been requested on all commercial accounts. A program to allow not-for-profit, non-governmental in-need organizations to purchase individual rides at the commuter fare rate is also included, plus an extension of overheight surcharge waiver for wheelchair lifts and Washington Administrative Code (WAC) language changes.
Customers unable to attend the meetings can comment on the proposal via mail, email fax or phone.
