The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will close the ramp from N.E. 134th Street to I-5 southbound, and conduct alternating single lane closures on I-5 southbound in the Salmon Creek area of Clark County on Sunday, Dec. 18.
The closures are necessary so crews working on the I-5 widening project between N.E. 99th Street and the I-205 merge can finish shifting traffic on I-5 between N.E. 129th Street and just north of N.E. 134th Street onto a new alignment. WSDOT shifted traffic in the northbound direction on Dec. 4. These closures may be cancelled and rescheduled in the event heavy rain occurs.
- From 6 a.m. to noon the left lane will be closed between I-205 and N.E. 129th Street.
- From noon to 5 p.m. the ramp from N.E. 134th Street to I-5 southbound will be closed. Crews also will conduct a rolling slowdown at noon to switch the lane closure from the left to the right.
- From noon to 5 p.m. the right lane will be closed between I-205 and N.E. 129th Street.
Motorists wishing to use the southbound on ramp at N.E. 134th Street while it is closed will need to seek alternate routes, and use caution when driving through the area. Motorists using I-5 southbound should detour to I-205 southbound as delays are expected on I-5 southbound. WSDOT would also like to remind all motorists that the speed limit on this section of I-5 has been reduced to 50 mph, and that traffic fines double inside work zones.
