ILWACO - The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will officially transfer ownership of a half-mile section of the State Route 100 Spur located within the boundary of Cape Disappointment Park to Washington State Parks on Jan. 3, 2006.

The SR 100 Spur extends south from the SR 100 Loop, located west of Ilwaco, into Cape Disappointment Park at the mouth of the Columbia River. The full length of the section being transferred is 0.61 mile. It begins at the park boundary and extends south to the end of the highway within the park. The transfer was made at the request of Washington State Parks, and allows the agency full control of the design, access, maintenance and operational functions of the roadway.

WSDOT will maintain ownership of the remaining section of the SR 100 Spur north of the park boundary, and the SR 100 Loop north to US 101.
