Media invited to Hyak December 5 at 3:00pm; discuss remaining work; photo ops at worksite
YAKIMA - WSDOT's contractor, Wilder Construction, is moving into the final phases of the rockfall stabilization project on I-90 east of Snoqualmie Summit. On Monday, December 5, at 3:00 p.m., WSDOT's South Central Regional Administrator Don Whitehouse will meet with interested media at the Hyak Maintenance Facility. Whitehouse and WSDOT construction and maintenance personnel will discuss the work remaining on the project.
"If Mother Nature doesn't hit us with big weather problems, we anticipate re-opening I-90 to four lanes by the middle of next week," said Don Whitehouse, Regional Administrator for the WSDOT South Central region. "After the re-opening, single lane closures will be needed during non-peak hours to re-set the concrete barrier that separates the opposing lanes, but we can do this work without congestion during low volume traffic times."
After the 3:00 p.m. media presentation today, interested press representatives will be escorted to the construction zone for on-site photo/video opportunities. Interviews with construction or maintenance personnel will take place at the Hyak Maintenance Facililty.
