VANCOUVER – The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will completely close all lanes on I-5 southbound between the I-205 split and NE 99 th Street and northbound I-5 between SR 500 and I-205 starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7. The interstate will reopen to traffic at 5 a.m. on Monday morning (Oct. 10).

The closure is necessary so crews working on the I-5 widening project between NE 99 th Street and I-205 can switch traffic onto the new I-5 northbound bridge over Salmon Creek at NE 117 th Street.

During the closure, motorists traveling southbound on I-5 are advised to use I-205 southbound. Motorists traveling northbound on I-5 are advised to use SR 14 or SR 500 eastbound to I-205 northbound.

This traffic shift onto the new northbound bridge over Salmon Creek marks the halfway milestone for the I-5 Salmon Creek Widening Project.

In addition, please note the following ramps that will be affected:

I-5 Southbound

The NE 134 th Street off ramp will remain open. The on ramp to southbound I-5 from NE 134 th Street will be closed. The on ramp from NE 99 th Street to southbound I-5 will be open.

I-5 Northbound

On ramps to northbound I-5 at NE 39 th Street, NE Main Street, NE 78 th Street and NE 99 th Street all will be closed. The on ramp from NE 134 th Street to I-5 northbound will be open.

Advanced warning signs will be posted for all closed ramps and in both directions of I-5. Emergency vehicles will be permitted access during the closure.
