SHINE – Washington State Department of Transportation and contractor Kiewit-General report 90 percent completion for the roll-off of the existing Hood Canal Bridge eastern approach span. The approach span will move the final feet once crews demolish an existing bridge pier.
While demolition continues, Kiewit-General moves forward on setting the end wall that retains dirt under the roadway leading up to the bridge.
Once the new roadway is in place, work turns to securing the deck at all six piers, installing an expansion joint, installing new approach slabs (the road leading to the new bridge deck) and paving. The bridge is scheduled to reopen by 4 a.m. Thursday.
Detailed construction progress updates will be posted online throughout the closure weekend at www.hoodcanalbridge.com. Project information also will be available by calling 877-595-HCB2.
