BATTLE GROUND - The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will hold a public open house and access hearing for the I-5, State Route 502 interchange project on Thursday, March 24, 2005, at WSDOT's Southwest Region Headquarters Office in Vancouver. The office is located at 11018 NE 51st Circle, just off of NE 112th Avenue near State Route 500. The open house is from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., with the access hearing for affected property owners beginning at 6 p.m.

WSDOT has considered several possible alignments and designs for a new interchange that would connect SR 502 (NE 219th Street) to I-5. The new interchange will improve safety, ease congestion and reduce weaving on I-5 northbound and southbound at the NE 179th Street interchange, and between the junction of I-5 and I-205 and the existing exit. It also will improve access to and from Battle Ground.

The open house is an opportunity to view the proposed project and exhibits and maps and meet with project team members before the start of the access hearing.

Comments or requests for information before the March 24 access hearing can be sent to Chuck Ruhsenberger, WSDOT Area Engineer, PO Box 1709, Vancouver, WA 98668-1709; e-mail sr502inter@wsdot.wa.gov; telephone (360) 759-1310, or fax (360) 905-2062.

The meeting site is accessible to persons of disability. Individuals requiring reasonable accommodations may request written materials in alternate formats, sign language interpreters, physical accessibility accommodations, or other reasonable accommodation by contacting Chuck Ruhsenberger at (360) 759-1310, usually two weeks before the meeting date (March 24, 2005). Persons who are deaf or hard of hearing may call the Washington State Telecommunications Relay Service, or Tele-Braille at 7-1-1, Voice 1-800-833-6384, and ask to be connected to the event sponsor's phone number. The meeting location is served by C-TRAN Route 80.

It is the Washington State Department of Transportation's (WSDOT) policy to assure that no person shall, on the grounds of race, color, national origin and sex, as provided by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise discriminated against under any of its federally funded programs and activities.
