Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing

Photogrammetry is the science of making very precise measurements from photographs and other types of images.  Washington State Department of Transportation, (WSDOT), Photogrammetry uses these techniques to make very accurate maps and 3D computer images and CAD files.  This information is used as the base map or starting point in planning, designing and constructing transportation facilities of all types.  One of the techniques is the process that we use to scan and correct photographic (camera) images so that the resulting picture (orthophoto) has the same accuracy characteristics as a map.  This allows our customers to make precise measurements of distance, size, and geographic location of all objects in orthophoto, something that was not possible in the past.
