2013 Quick Response Safety Program: Selected Projects

In late 2012, cities, counties, and tribes in Washington state were invited to apply for grants for the construction phase of projects that met two goals:

  1. Reduce fatal and serious injury collisions on local roads and streets and on state highways that serve as city arterials within any local jurisdiction.
  2. Get safety projects on the ground quickly.

The program distributes Highway Safety Improvement Program funds from Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21) (pdf 1.4 mb). MAP-21 is the federal legislation for highway and transit programs.

We received 92 grant applications, from 35 cities and 21 counties. Of the applications we received, we funded the 54 projects shown below, in 25 cities and 14 counties. This program will fund $26.7 million to these agencies over the next year.
