About This Byway
Mt Baker (10,778), the northern most peak of the Cascade volcanoes, was originally named "Komo Kulshan". The byway draws outdoor enthusiasts who hike, ski, or otherwise enjoy the area's cedar forests, spectacular waterfalls and rugged peaks. Living native cultures, remnants of the Gold Rush era and pastoral farmlands make this byway rich in natural and human history.
