Average weekend data
Corridor Performance:
• General purpose traffic volumes are heavy in both directions throughout the day. As a result of these high volumes average daytime speed in the general purpose lanes is below the posted limit. During the PM peak hour the average speed drops to 33.2 mph. The data shown in the accompanying tables is for the screenline near Coal Creek Parkway. Traffic conditions in other parts of corridor also experience high peak period volumes. Congestion in the vicinity of the SR 167 interchange can be severe.
• HOV lane traffic is more oriented to the peaks than the general purpose traffic. Northbound morning peak volumes are higher than at other times of the day. The average HOV lane speeds are consistently at the posted limit in the northbound direction. Southbound the HOV lane operates well below capacity except during the PM peak period. HOV lane person throughput is more than 50% higher than the general purpose lane average during the PM peak. Southbound the HOV lane does experience congestion during the PM peak and at times performance fails to meet the state standard.
• Transit service in this corridor is oriented to the peak direction. Off-peak transit ridership represents a small fraction of total HOV person throughput.
