Corridor Performance

The general purpose lane experiences high traffic volumes throughout the day and into the evening. As a result of congestion approaching the floating bridge, average general purpose lane speeds are far below the posted limit in both the AM and PM peaks.

The HOV lane in this segment is a converted shoulder. It functions much like a queue jump approaching the floating bridge. The HOV lane
operates only in the westbound direction and is restricted to vehicles with three or more occupants. Average HOV lane speed at this
screenline is close to the posted limit, however, significant slowing is experienced a short distance to the west where the HOV lane merges into the general purpose lanes. HOV lane person throughput is below the average general purpose lane throughput in the AM peak, and nearly equal to general purpose lane throughput in the PM peak.

Transit ridership is concentrated in the peaks.
