• Northbound the HOV lane provides a small travel time advantage beginning around 5:00 AM. On average the travel time saving is only about one to two minutes until mid afternoon when congestion in the general purpose lanes widens the speed differential. HOV lane travel time savings increase to an average of eight minutes in the PM peak. At the end of the PM peak period the travel time advantage quickly disappears.
• The northbound HOV lane on this segment of I-405 consistently meets the state performance standard at all times of the day. Some slowing does occur in the PM peak around NE 70th street, but the HOV lane still provides a satisfactory level of speed and reliability.

• Southbound the HOV lane provides significant travel time savings in both the morning and evening peak periods. Midday the HOV lane also provides a travel time advantage, but it averages only a minute or two. Congestion in the general purpose lanes give the southbound HOV lane an advantage throughout the day.
• Speed and reliability occasionally fail to meet the state standard during the PM peak. Outside the PM peak the HOV lane operates with a high level of speed and reliability.
