Background
The Financing Infrastructure Commission was also created in the 2005 SAFETEA-LU legislation to analyze future highway and transit needs, the finances of the Highway Trust Fund and to make recommendations regarding alternative approaches to financing transportation.

Update on Report
The Commission released an interim report in February of 2008.  The final report was released in February of 2009.
