EEO Assurances - External

Purpose

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), as a recipient of federal-aid highway funds, is required to maintain an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Program, which shall include a system to ascertain whether contractors and subcontractors are complying with their EEO contract obligations. This program shall include procedures to assure: (1) that EEO is being provided, and (2) that prompt corrective action will be taken in the event of noncompliance.

Policy

It is the policy of the Washington State Department of Transportation to perform all official equal employment opportunity actions in an affirmative manner, and in full accord with applicable federal law, statutes, executive orders, regulations, and policies enunciated thereunder, to assure the equality of employment opportunity, without regard to race, religion, sex, color, national origin, age, or disability both in its own work force and in the work forces of contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers engaged in the performance of federal-aid highway construction contracts.
