Getting your foot into the door of state government employment isn’t always easy, but if you’re confident in your work ethic and your technical skills in system development, this could be the open door you’ve been waiting for. The Washington State Department of Transportation Commercial Vehicle Services office is looking for an ITS 4 to develop a replacement for our existing Microsoft Systematic Complete Roadside Networks Review (SCRNR) system.
This is a project position that will go until June 30, 2011 and in this time you will have the opportunity to work in a project team environment to process the existing inputs from our roadside International Road Dynamics (IRD) ISINC computer so that they interact with the Commercial Vehicle Information Systems and Networks (CVISN) applications. The new development will be in Visual Studio 2005, .NET, C# and Transact SQL for MS SQL Server 2005. In addition to system development, the incumbent will also maintain existing Studio 6 C++ application until the new SCRNR system is deployed to all WSP CVISN stations in the next 2-4 years.
The successful candidate will:
- Maintain and develop programs in MS SQL Server 2005 Transact SQL, .NET, C# and Visual Basic.
- Develop interfaces to new and existing applications.
- Travel to WSP weigh stations within the state to perform network upgrades. This will include occasional overnight stay.
- Complete the System replacement from our existing SCRNR system to Microsoft.NET Suite by the project deadline.
- Support the expanded CVISN project as necessary, which includes additional development and testing as needed.
Desired qualifications include:
- 5 years of experience working with MS SQL Server, .NET, C# and Visual Basic.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
- Washington State Driver’s License or the ability to get one.
Compensation:
$54,504-$71,496 annually depending on qualifications.
