At WSDOT we live and breathe highways. We build them, repair them, analyze them, operate them, plan them, and of course, drive on them. So much so that one could say that often our office is our well-maintained fleet of vehicles. So when the oil light came on in the state car I was recently driving, I headed straight to the OR equipment shop. There I met Jason Sanquist, who took the keys with a promise to fix the problem. Sure enough, the next day the car was good as new with a replaced oil sensor.

While waiting to pick up the car, I got a chance to chat with Jason. He lit up when he talked about his six-year-old son KC, with whom he camps and fishes as often as possible. With dad’s help, KC goes trout fishing. In a few years, KC will graduate to fishing for dad’s favorite fish – salmon – from dad’s favorite shore – Sekiu.
