You get Marj Shomshor, our Data Warehouse Coordinator who uses her unique combination of education and experience to coordinate between the Technical IT experts and the business representatives throughout the agency to ensure that the WSDOT Data Warehouse has the information needed to help DOT make better decisions.
 
With more than eleven different subject areas of data: collision, construction reports financial , etc. it’s Marj’s ability to understand the big picture between technology and business needs coupled with her easy going personality that makes her so successful in this role.
 
What Marj likes about her job with WSDOT is her ability to have a life outside of work. And she takes full advantage of her free time. In between doing home remodels and building a certified canning kitchen in her back yard, Marj has hosted exchange students from five different continents and many countries like Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Venezuela, Columbia, Belgium, Slovakia, and Mongolia just to name a few. When asked what she’s learned from having so many diverse people sharing her home with her family, Marj’s reflects that “People are the same no matter where you’re from. Cultures may be different but the foundation is the same and people are just people”.

This profound knowledge has benefitted Marj in life and helped her understand and to work well with fellow coworkers. Marj is well known through the agency of being a great resource for your data questions and needs.
