Retiring from the Navy after serving 22 years as part of the US Navy Seabees, Dan Wisner went to work on the I-405 project with HNTB Consulting. After commuting from Chehalis to Bellevue for 2 years, he joined WSDOT in 2006 in the Olympic Region Lakewood Office as a Project Controller, and later transferred to the Chehalis office. When asked about what he likes about working for WSDOT, besides a shorter commute, he easily remarked, “Great people, great offices.” Dan has 20 years experience with Primavera, scheduling software. WSDOT has begun integrating and using this software as part of the new Project Management and Reporting System (PMRS).
In August 2008 Dan took a position in the Headquarters Project Control and Reporting Office as a statewide support desk help for the Primavera Scheduler and Primavera Web Access components of PMRS. He utilizes his many years of technical and engineering expertise to assist others statewide. He enjoys helping people utilize a powerful tool in their jobs and being able to assist them when they need it. What he likes most about his current job is talking with people from around the state and getting various perspectives and figuring out how he can best meet their needs. He enjoys sharing his knowledge of construction project management with others and assisting them with ways to overcome any obstacles they might have with scheduling.
While in the Navy, Dan had the opportunity to travel the world. When asked, “Where have you been?” it was easier for him to list where he has not had the opportunity to travel to. Antarctica was the only continent he hasn’t been to. The best places he’s lived overseas are Spain and Japan. While in Japan, one of his fondest memories is climbing to the top of Mt. Fuji. In Dan’s spare time, he enjoys working in the outdoors, hunting, hiking and fishing. He’s a big fan of Cabelas and he’s dubbed it “the $100 store” as it’s difficult to leave the store without spending at least $100. Dan's most memorial moments are getting married to his wife Krista, then being home to see his son Tyler born, and the latest is watching Tyler play in the state's 2B championship game (Napavine vs. Asotin) and win. "Go Napavine".
