Chris Dunster

Photo of WSDOT employee, Chris DunsterChris Dunster began his career at WSDOT as an inspector on the SR 519 project near Safeco Field. Little did he know, eight years later he would be the Finance and Accounting Manager for the $1.4 billion Tacoma/Pierce County HOV program.

Chris is perfect for the position of “banker” for such a huge project. He loves to solve problems and enjoys the challenges and day-to-day stressors of managing such a large budget.

Before coming to the HOV office he worked as the office engineer for another huge project – the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.

He enjoys the family atmosphere of WSDOT and the fact that he never does the same thing every day.

“What we do each day affects more than just what we do in the office.” Chris explains, “We are accountable to the citizens of Washington for every penny spent on these projects.”

Chris enjoys the challenge of his job but thinks what pushes him to want to go the extra mile is WSDOT’s dedication to employee development. Chris is currently working to get his PE license.

“I really like my current job but one day look forward to getting back out into the field.” Chris explained, “I love being outdoors.”

When Chris isn’t working he enjoys watching his three kids play basketball, baseball and soccer. He’s a huge college football fan and doesn’t care if you call him “Hokie” because Virginia Tech is his favorite team.
